Quotes to Remember
Here are some memorable words that came out of my boys' mouth. I like to note these, because it reminds me of how innocent little kids are and the wondrous way their minds think:
- Every morning I ask Ben what he wants for breakfast. He loves cereal, so most of the time he yells out, "I want Honey Butt Cheerios!" He's finally starting to say it correctly. For whatever reason, he can't seem to say "Honey NUT."
- Nathan often plays with Superman and Batman. Several times he would suddenly drop the action figures and run up to me with a sad face due to a horrifying realization. With a very concerned voice, he says, "Mommy, I can't fly." So, I look at him and say, "Oh. Do you want to fly?" Nathan looks at me with his puppy dog eyes and says, "Yes, I wanna fly." What do I do about that one???
- I can't quite remember what we were talking about, but my conversation with Ben lead me to say something along the lines of, "Of course I want to protect you. I don't want you to get hurt, so I would always protect you." Ben looked at me with wide eyes and says, "Yea....like God!" Geez...no pressure, right?
- This morning, during a snack, Nathan started to whine about something. With an extremely low tolerance for whining, I looked at him and said, "Uh-oh, Nathan! No whining....you are a big boy!" Nathan adamantly responded, "I'm not a big boy!" I asked him, "What are you, then?" Refusing to give up the fight, he demanded, "I'm a LITTLE, big boy!!" I left the table so he wouldn't see me laughing.
- During a drive to run an errand, Ben was sitting in his carseat, swinging his legs with contentment. He loves car rides. He is also very observant with the directions we drive and sometimes comments on them. As I started to merge onto the highway, Ben says, "I don't want to go on the highway. I want to stay on the 'low-way.' " When you think about it, that almost makes sense. =)
- Once in awhile, as I am getting dressed, Nathan will make his way upstairs and find me in the bedroom before I am finished. Last night, as I was getting dressed, he sprinted over to me with a huge smile on his face as if he was going to give me a big bear hug. Instead, he stuck out his arms and his hands landed on my stomach as he proceeded to exclaim, "There is mommy's big belly!!" One thing you can count on with kids, for sure...bluntness. Sigh...
